Wow!

When I got home this evening from I came back to a wow moment.  I had been away overnight staying with my Dad whilst I was working Bristol and G had been busy in my absence.  The hall had been a big face lift as G has fitted the slate floor.  It looks great and its the same as in the kitchen so it all flows together.  He has asked me to tread carefully on it at the moment  as the glue is still setting.  I think that could be more of a challenge for me than it was for him to fit the  floor.

On the way home I picked up the oak shelving for the alcoves in the middle bedroom.  Big chunky solid oak with a lovely smooth finish.  It will look great against the white alcove.  My first visit to joinery workshop I was surprised how many men there were there - they all seemed to know Graeme.  I was a bit out of place in my work suit and by then end of it I was covered in dust!  I also took a sample of oak flooring that we may use for the middle bedroom.

The new slate floor

Same slate as in kitchen ..but hall slate not grouted or sealed yet.

A very tired G

Just in cases you thought it was only G doing the hard work today I thought I should mention about some of the background work that goes on behind the scenes.  After having decided on a colour for the chimney breast feature wall and getting G to agree so easily I instantly changed my mind and decided the colour was not good.  We wanted a bit of a beachy effect in the room and I realised that the colour I had chosen didn't fit with that scheme and the materials that would go with that colour would not give the right look.  So I am back to the drawing board.  This time I thought I would choose the material that I liked for the blinds then match the feature wall to one of the colours in the material.  This is still proving difficult as some of the materials I think look good I don't like the individual colours in. So the dilemma goes on.

Fabric Dilemmas!
I also wanted to add this photo that I took with my Dad.  I have recently got and i phone and like many people when they first get one I have become a bit obsessed with getting new apps and playing with my phone.  My favourite app this week is called auto stitch.  Its designed to make panoramic photos.  You take lots of photos and that overlap slightly.  Then it 'stiches' them all together to make one photo.  How clever is that!  Dad thought it would be funny to be in each photo so know it looks like he has two brothers!!

It was really good to see my Dad last night.  Mum is away in Florida visiting my sister and family.  We had a quiet night in front of the fire with bottle of cointreau and managed to stay up too late it was great to catch up but I was exhausted all day yesterday.
